Breakdown and track

We are living in a world with infinite possibilities, experiences, and horizons where Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) can play a crucial role in bridging gaps and building opportunities for people and cultures to connect together at a much deeper level than ever before. This can be achieved by resorting to ICT in fulfilling aspirations and facilitating the foundations for a more peaceful and harmonized world. ICT is a neutral entity which relies in totality on users to give it meaning, purpose and direction especially when it is seen as a strength which complements our role and responsibilities as leaders and workers of tolerant religions. In Islam, Information is a common factor in both fields of Da'wah and Technology, thus, ICT and its infrastructure should be considered as a factor in the equation of our duties in the Masjids, schools and organizations. The main Islamic principles should be taken as guidelines for laying the foundation of Islamic code of practice in ICT.

Building on the success of the first ICT4M conferences in 2006, UIN and IIUM are proud to jointly organize the 3rd ICT4M in Jakarta on 13-14 December, 2010. The theme of this year ICT4M is "ICT Connecting Cultures" with the aim to bring together practitioners, academics, community leaders, local government officials, policy-makers and other professionals from diverse disciplines and regions around the world to address ICT solutions for the global concerns set by UN Millennium Development Goals (Ending Poverty and Hunger, Universal Education, Gender Equality, Child Health, Maternal Health, Combat HIV/AIDS, Environmental Sustainability, and Global Partnership and to build bridges of tolerance and respect across borders.
